In Between the Question and the Answer

One of the things many teachers and leaders in my life have taught me is that I must do the work and processes that my clients do.  I think that’s important.  I see it as integrity.

As I have been on my own journey of healing throughout life, I have learned to do my best to be present with all parts of myself.  I believe I’m like most people in that not all my parts agree on everything.

So when a decision comes up, it’s up to me whether and how I listen to my parts in making a decision.  There are a lot of ways to get information around how I feel and what I experience.  There are sensations in the body, images, dreams, pain!  I have learned that any question, if I truly want an honest answer from myself, requires time to process.

To take that pause and honor the space between question and answer.  Time between can also be known as liminal space.  It can be such a scary time.  It can also be magical.  If you really listen and allow yourself to express your thoughts without interpretation or conclusion, there is so much rich material to return to – and it is all yours.  You can always go back.

You are worth listening to.
